Maverick County Lake/Lago de Maverick County

8:00am – 6:00pm (lake is closed to vehicular traffic/el lago estara cerrado a trafico vehicular)	All day/ Todo el dia:  Walk, bike, skate, run or play with family/Camina, pasea en bicicleta, patina, corre o juega con tu familia(all levels/todos niveles)
8:00am	Meet at entrance of lake for a fun Walk/Run /Reunirse en la entrada del lago para caminar/correr – Elvia Ledezma
10:00am-11:00am	Zumba Gold - A Tu Salud Fitness
10:00am	All about Cycling/Todo sobre Ciclismo - Saul and Rosantina Fernandez
11:00am-12:00pm	Zumba - Letty’s Dance Studio
1:00pm – 2:00pm	Resistance Band Class by Ana Ortiz
2:00pm-3:00pm	Awesome Athletics Gym - Demonstration by Kevin Pitasi

*Pete Gallegos Elementary, Benavides Heights Elementary, Rosita Valley Elementary and Glass Elementary will be participating in various events throughout the day.*Food items will be available from 11am to 1pm. *Bike raffle for children.

Monthly Ciclovias at the Lake/Ciclovias Mensuales en el Lago

Come and join us for a day of fun at the Maverick County Lake in Eagle Pass, TX. Ciclovias are held every first Saturday of the month.  During this festival the lake is closed to vehicles for  your enjoyment and recreational activity. 

On Saturday, February 2, 2013 we will meet at 8am at the Pavilion for walking and running....so put on your running shoes and let's get this year started off right!

Other fun events start at 12:30pm and will include soccer, football, walking and Zumba. Don't miss out, come be a part of this exciting event!

Venga y únase a un día de diversión en el Lago del Condado de Maverick en Eagle Pass, TX. Ciclovías se celebran cada primer sábado del mes. Durante este festival el lago está cerrado a vehículos y disponible para que usted lo disfrute en cualquier tipo de actividad recreativa.

 El Sábado, 02 de febrero del 2013 nos reuniremos a las 8 am en el Pabellón para caminar y correr .... así que póngase sus zapatos de correr y demos un buen comienzo a este nuevo año. 
  
Otros eventos divertidos a partir de las 12:30 incluirán fútbol americano, fútbol, caminata y Zumba. No se lo pierda y sea parte de este emocionante evento.

National Night Out paves the way for increasing prostate cancer awareness

Community residents from Eagle Pass, TX gathered to celebrate National Night Out at Burr Park as a means to encourage residents to get to know their neighbors and prevent crime. The Hope-K trinational health council supported the effort and provided information on healthy living and diabetes prevention. During this event Hope -K members talked to city and county officials about supporting prostate cancer prevention efforts during the month of November. Stay tuned and find out the innovative ways our community leaders will help in the fight against prostate cancer.

Ponytail for Love

During our first annual ciclovia festival on September 30, 2012, the PonyTail for Love event also saw great success.  Almost 30 persons donated their ponytails for the purpose of making wigs for women suffering from cancer.  We would like to thank all our donors and volunteers for making such a worthwhile cause possible in Eagle Pass, Texas. 

Ciclovia: Pasos y Pedales

The first annual ciclovia "Pasos y Pedales" in Eagle Pass, Texas was a great success with approximately 200 residents and volunteers in attendance.  The community engaged in various types of physical activity such as hula-hooping, jump rope, volleyball, soccer, cycling, walking and lots more!  As part of this festival Mayor Ramsey Cantu proclaimed September 30th as "Ciclovia Day" and made a verbal committment to continue supporting efforts to encourage the community's well-being and encouraged residents to engage in physical activity as a life long practice.  Check out some of the pictures below!

Breast Cancer Education for Beauticians and Promotores de Salud

The HOPE-K THC in partnership with Southwest Border AHEC and the DSHS-Office of Border Health are planning an informative educational session with promotores and local beauticians in Eagle Pass, Texas.  Because the beauty salon is a place where women spend many hours it makes it an ideal place to talk about breast cancer prevention. Come and learn on how you can take part in prevention efforts here in Eagle Pass.

Local beauticians participating in this event will also have the opportunity to participate in the Pony Tail for Love event.  Any person wishing to donate at least 10 inches of their hair will receive a free haircut and the satisfaction of having donated their hair for the purpose of making a wig for women suffering from cancer. 

Hope-K Ciclovia Festival in Eagle Pass, Texas

The HOPE-K Trinational Health Council (THC) representing Eagle Pass, Piedras Negras and the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas are planning their first annual Ciclovia: Pasos y Pedales.  During this Ciclovia Festival the community will have the opportunity to enjoy the city's streets and its parks for fun physical activity including walking, cycling, Zumba and much more.
