WellnessWorks at Benavides Elementary

Starting the day energized after a Zumba routine, students from Benavides Elementary in Eagle Pass, TX are set for a day at school. Thanks to Letty (Letty's Dance Studio), Monica from TX Ag Extension Office, DSHS staff and community health workers from the Mexican Consulate VDS for volunteering their time to teach students about nutrition and physical activity. Thanks to these great volunteers 5th and 6th grade students are learning about MyPlate, reading food labels and other essential lessons that will help them adopt healthy habits early in life.

April 6th Ciclovia: Fun At Maverick County Lake

Yesterday's HOPE-K ciclovia was a great success.  Thanks to all our community partners for supporting us at this event.  And thanks to the community for coming out, enjoying the day and taking part in fun physical activities with us and more importantly with your families. 

La ciclovia de ayer fue un gran exito.  Gracias a todos nuestros socios comunitarios por su apoyo en este evento. Y gracias a la comunidad por venir a acompanarnos, por disfrutar del dia y tomar parte en actividad fisica divertida con nosotros pero mas importante con sus familias.

8:00am – 4:00pm (lake is closed to vehicular traffic/el lago estará cerrado al tráfico vehicular)	All day/ Todo el día:  Walk, bike, skate, run or play with family (INDIVIDUALLY) /Camina, pasea en bicicleta, patina, corre o juega con tu familia(all levels/todos niveles) (INDIVIDUALMENTE)
10:00am	Meet at entrance of lake for a fun Walk/Run for TB awareness-  “A Todo Pulmón”- Stop TB in my Lifetime/ Reunirse en la entrada del lago para la caminata contra la TB – “A Todo Pulmón”
10:30am – 11:30 am	Volleyball / Voleibol
11:00am – 12:00pm	Zumba Gold with Laura Moreno (A Tu Salud Fitness) *for our older adults/*actividad para nuestros adultos mayores
1:00pm	Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas Performance
12:00am - 2:00pm	“Got moves”/ “Muévete” with Veronica and Heber –dance and activities for kids/ baile y actividades para niños
2:00pm	Bike Raffle/Rifa de bicicletas
